Reflection
on Articles
First
off, we looked at a picture of Albert Einstein with a quote from him saying, “I
fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will
have a generation of idiots”. A few comments that I would like to make
regrading that statement would be, if technology were to surpass human
interaction then how did it get to that point. Well the answer might be because
humans made it that way, humans have developed technology to be that way. Yes
Mr. Einstein, it does seem easier to use technology like texting, emailing, or
other forms of media to communicate with others, but that also allows us to
communicate with many people from all over the country at once. If the world
becomes a generation of idiots, then so be it. That just means that our
generation has flourished when it comes to technology and the world will be
filled with idiots because technology will never stop growing.
Secondly,
the article named “Summon the comfy chairs!” makes me think “Wow. People are
awesome”. We live in a world today where people come up some crazy ideas and
actually bring them to life. I have seen the robot vacuum cleaner before and it
just makes life so much easier. I feel like we live in a world where we are
always so busy and when we have things like this to make it just a little bit
simpler then that sounds like a good day to me.
Third,
the article titled “Equivalency of Paper Versus Tablet Computer Data Survey
Data” does not surprise me one bit. It is so much easier to reach many more
people through the internet than it is through paper. It would also be a lot
cheaper to send an email with 100 addresses on it, than to mail out 100
envelops with 100 stamps on them to people. You are also more likely to get responses
from the internet than from people having to mail back the survey.
Lastly,
the “Teacher Technology Usage” article prepared by PBS is a very eye opening
one. You do not realize how much technology is used in the classroom, but it is
true. Teachers use overhead projectors, smart boards, computers, tablets, etc.
every day as a helpful tool for students to learn. As students grow and go to
school they are introduced to more and more technology. When they get into jr.
high and high school they get more hands on with the technology and use it for
learning. It is a great thing to learn about technology in school because it
will never go away, and it is something that students will have to use for the
rest of their lives. I believe that one day in the future, schools will get rid
of text books completely and it will all be on the newest technology for
students to use.
